WILMINGTON FAMILY YMCA GO “GREEN”
Coastal Pure, the Carolinas leading Mineral Ionization Company has ionized the Wilmington Family YMCA pools and Spa. Mineral Ionization, along with low levels of chlorine will sanitize the facilities 185,000 gallons of pool and spa water. The new ion systems will replace a minimum of 50% -70% of the chlorine and additives needed to sanitize pool water. The commercial grade ionization systems emit small amounts of copper and silver ions into the pools for the purpose of bacteria, bio-film, and algae control, while reducing the hazards associated with heavy chemical dosing. The benefits are three fold. The YMCA will save tens of thousands of dollars in future chemical costs, bathers will enjoy superior water quality, as well as reducing chemical related damage to eyes, hair and skin and chemical related allergy reactions. Water discharged from the ionized pools will greatly reduce the chemical impact on the environment and surrounding ground water sources. Coastal Pure is based out of N. Myrtle Beach, SC and can be reached at 843-251-7564.
The Wilmington Family YMCA serves more than 8,000 people each year, including 2,000 children under the age of 18. Through a variety of programs and services focused on the holistic development of children and youth, and family strengthening, YMCAs unite men, women and children of all ages, faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels. The Wilmington Family YMCA has proudly served the community for more than 120 years by building healthy spirit, mind and body for all. For more information, visit www.wilmingtonfamilyymca.org
BAREFOOT RESORT HOA POOL GOES “GREEN”!
With the full approval and support of DHEC, Chicora
Property Management & COASTAL PURE, Inc. installed a
DHEC approved commercial Ionization system on the
Greenbriar HOA pool located at Barefoot Resort. The pool
holds 36 thousand gallons of water and is open year
round. COASTAL PURE'S Mineral Ionization system is being
used in conjunction with low levels of chlorine as a
secondary sanitation method.
In early April, 2009, under the watchful eye of Rebel
Pool Management (RPM) ,COASTAL PURE simultaneously
lowered the levels of Stabilized Chlorine & chemical
pool additives (always staying within DHEC minimum
requirements) and raised the ion (copper/silver) levels
to meet the DHEC required ion level. This
process took less than one week. The six month test
results are in, and the project has been a complete
success.
Over a six month period of time, from April 2009 to
September 2009, COASTAL PURE, DHEC & RPM monitored and
recorded the results of this electronic water
purification system. Keeping the pool water chemistry
within DHECs acceptable minimal standards, RPM reports a
solid 50% reduction in Stabilized Chlorine use and a 90%
reduction in the use of chemical pool additives. RPM
also reports that the pool water at the Greenbriar pool
has remained clear, beautiful, & completely algae free.
The ion system works very well with low levels of
chlorine. “Homeowners and guests alike are very pleased
with the exceptional quality of the ionized pool water,
and are happy that the pool runoff water is not
poisoning the surrounding environment”, says Anita
Minervino, owner Coastal Pure, Inc.
In an early September budget meeting with Chicora
Property Management association manager Mike Runser,
Chuck Gornick, owner of Rebel Pool Management,
recommended a 50% reduction in the chlorine budget and a
80% reduction in the chemical additive budget for the
Greenbriar pool for 2010. In a positive statement to
Coastal Pure, Gornick added that “as my confidence in
the COASTAL PURE'S Ionization system grows, the 50%
chlorine savings we had over the summer will most likely
increase to a 65-70% savings this fall & winter. Gornick
agrees that the largest chemical and money savings will
be realized during the winter months, or “closed”
season, when cooler weather prevails and bather load is
at a minimum. Gornick also agrees that using the COASTAL
PURE'S Mineral Ionization system is simple and easily
managed. Once set, the state of the art technology
automatically maintains the DHEC required level of ions.
Ion levels are then tested using a simple liquid reagent
test. Along with standard pool operating procedures,
mandated by DHEC, the newly installed system simply
“does its job”.
COASTAL PURE maintains that their electronic Mineral
Ionization system, along with low levels of chlorine
(and other DHEC mandated public pool maintenance
procedures), is “The best secondary sanitization system
that money can buy to protect swimming pools and water
features from the constant threat of an algae bloom”.
EPA APPROVES COPPER AT ANTIMICROBIAL AGENT
Recent articles about global success written by NASA, the medical and scientific communities are now supplemented by additional major breakthroughs in health science. The EPA approves copper as an antimicrobial agent to control deadly infections. To quote the EPA, “For the first time, copper systems can be marketed legally in U.S. using public health claims”.
The Environmental Protection Agency by announcing this
major breakthrough of approving copper in protecting
public health and playing a key role in preventing
infections was the result of extensive real world
testing. Rigorous analysis by independent lab and
hospital testing showed elimination of bacterial, fungal
and viral pathogens within minutes. The list includes
hospital superbugs (MRSA – Methicillin-Resistant
Staphylococcus aureus), E. coli, streptococcus, fungi,
influenza virus, bird flu, VRE (Vancomycin-resistant
Enterococci), Acinetobacter baumanni, Clostridium
difficile, molds, (Aspergillus niger), Legionella
pneumophila. By using copper systems, we can help
prevent over 2 million infections, save over 100,000
lives and the estimated $30 billion dollars in overall
health care costs.
The variety of applications for our equipment is far
ranging. It includes pools, spas, fountains, HVAC
equipment, cooling towers, hospitals, food and potable
water systems. We see the successful use of our
ionization systems helping to solve the major problems
facing our most vitally important natural resources, air
and water, the source of life. By preventing and
combating growth in water treatment systems, our
equipment will play a major role in non-toxic
environmentally friendly methods of insuring the public
health in both public and private spaces.
